Branding Content: M.A. Digital Communications Management at Boise State University

Production Date: Feb. 2026
Client: Todd Norton at Boise State University
Tools: Canva, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Google Slides

At the request of Todd Norton, Boise State University Professor, Associate Chair of the Media Department, and Director of Online Initiatives, I worked to create promotional content for the Boise State University online programs, Master of Arts in Digital Communications Management (D.C.M) program.

Information Template (Canva)

We were given an information template used by the university's extended studies department as our kicking off point. Slight adjustments were made to the template’s layout, either to provide a subtly unique visual identity or to accommodate more text information as needed. For example, the Digital Communications Management’s link is much longer than the default program template’s, so the flyer's’ footer had to be rearranged.

Experimental Poster (Adobe Illustrator)

Our goal wasn’t just to inform students about the program: it was to make them notice it in the first place. I thought we’d need something more than just the template for this reason, so I took it upon myself to ideate and propose an experimental design for a poster. The design uses a QR code, link, and contact information to guide prospective students to the information they need, but is much more display-focused and intended to be artsy and eye-catching. I believed a poster of this tone would be a strong addition to our marketing kit as it could work by itself or to complement our existing informational template and attract others to it.

Social Media (Instagram, Portrait Dimensions)

Finally, I re-formatted and combined both pieces of content into one post for social media (formatted for Instagram) to spread our content to digital platforms and not just physical media to use on campus.

Midge

Pastels on Canvas    18 x 24''    2021

In my work, I commonly ask how I can exaggerate color to create a more appealing image. In Midge, this was the focal point of my process as I attempted to immersively capture my simple black and white house cat in a more visually-interesting manner. The bright colors highlight her dynamic—and somewhat snooty—expression and pose, creating a playful atmosphere as Midge seems to stare off into the distance curiously.
The large canvas size, 18 by 24 inches, makes her larger than life.

Good Luck

Digital Painting (Procreate)    2021

At the time of this portrait I was very interested in fortune cookies (reading and eating them). It was the staple of my quarter, and so for my final of the class I decided to include one of the treats. The fortune reads "good luck", a hopeful yet ominous statement, reflecting the dual nature of both my hope and worries for the desire for success at the time.

A long-term group project which we concepted as a game but delivered as an art and tech demo. Sounds of Adventure is a VR rhythm game that utilizes hand and foot tracking! Water Wings

VR Therapy Experience (Full Unreal Engine Level)

Production Date: Spring 2023
Client: Hospice Savannah
Role: 3D Artist, 3D Generalist, Concept Artist
Tools: Meta Quest 2, Unreal Engine, Maya, Adobe Substance Painter, Photoshop, InDesign (Process Book)

In 10 weeks, our team of five created a VR experience with the intent to be shown at a local Savannah hospice center to patients. The experience was created with a purposeful simplicity to target this demographic: patients who might not have much mobility or gaming experience. We hoped to bring patients a reprieve from anxiety and stress with an engaging, surprising, and beautiful experience for them to participate in. I was responsible for concept art, storyboarding, 3D modeling and texturing, set dressing, caustics, and arranging our presentations and process materials. I am especially proud of work I did to create useful Houdini systems to generate coral and rocks to streamline our workflow! I later worked on a solo project, a VR interior, inspired by the project.

Water Wings Rehash: Interior

VR Mini-Environment

Production Date: Spring 2024
Tools: Meta Quest 3, Unreal Engine, Maya, Adobe Substance Painter

A solo project where I attempted to make aesthetic improvements on a previous group project, Water Wings, in 5 weeks. I created an entirely new mini-environment, creating an interior instead of an exterior. Most assets were created fresh by myself, but some old ones were repurposed (with permission). This was an interesting exercise in editing geometry and textures to incorporate old assets into a new style.

Of Pumpkins and Potions

Character Design, Model, and Game Treatment

Production Date: Summer 2024
Tools: Maya, Adobe Substance Painter, Unity, Procreate, Adobe Photoshop

Just before graduation, a class assignment dictated we create a character, model it, and then create a brief game treatment for our asset to exist in. Though I'd performed the same process in the past, it was exciting to discover how much quicker I could produce a more quality product than at the start of my education at SCAD.
